Somewhat Useless Facts about Fall Season Episodes

August 13, 2000

"The Big Deal, Part 1", the fall season kick off airs the 672nd weekend of AIO broadcasting.

"The Big Deal" was originally titled "Believe It or Not", but is still known among the Odyssey staff as simply "John the Baptist."

"The Big Deal" was written for the longest time with both Nick Mulligan and Aubrey Shepard in the Imagination Station.  Due to a schedule conflict, Chris Castille (Nick) wasn't available for the recording sessions, so the show was re-written to take the Nick character out of the show.

John Beebee's two-part KIDS Radio episode was unique in many ways, especially since it was a musical. John Beebee wrote the song lyrics and came up with the tunes. He then sang them for John Campbell over the phone, who scored the songs and provided 'scratch tracks', or tapes of the music for the actors to practice with ahead of time.

The musical was John Beebee's AIO directing debut.  Kathy Wierenga also had her directing debut with one of her episodes coming up this fall.

We started the July recording session with a show called "Best Laid Plans" and ended with a show called "Worst Day Ever".  Amazing irony!
